How to Write a Monograph
The monograph is one of the most required reports in higher education. It’s a method often not taught in school and university students face a challenge that is apparently difficult. The monograph is nothing but a systemic process of information organization. Follow the steps below and your work will be fun and very beneficial for your entire life.
Choose a topic on which you would like to acquire more knowledge. The issue must be something or someone that really inspires you. You must emphasize only one aspect of the subject that you want to develop, so you don’t have a too big of an issue, where you may forget important details. When you have decided the theme and a specific aspect of it for analysis, start gathering information material (books, articles, research documents etc.). It is important that you organize your sources of information using the file method. This method consists in organizing small chips where you specify the author of the document, the date of issue, the central theme that relates to your topic of research and, finally, the nature of the document (Article, paper, book). When you are finished reviewing your sources and has organized the information obtained in them, begin to make the draft work. The first thing that must be recorded is the introduction, which is where a summary of all the information that contains the document is, including authors reviewed, articles and sources. Divide your work in different sections depending on the theme. Use the chronological order or the order of importance. When you have exposed all your points by chapters, prepare a conclusion that should summarize the issues analyzed and avoid established judgments of value.
Tips It is advisable to use a maximum of seven sources for a monograph development. Using too many sources, you may find differences of opinion between the authors and it will be difficult to draw up a conclusion. Make a file in which you have all your sources organized. The organization is the key to a successful monograph.
